Pennsylvania Insurance Commissioner Nominated

This week Joel Scott Ario, currently Oregon’s chief insurance regulator, has been nominated to serve as Pennsylvania’s Insurance Commissioner. Ario also currently chairs the health insurance committee for the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) and has been elected as an officer for three years. In his time with the NAIC he has been a strong advocate of state-based regulation of insurance and has also streamlined the producer licensing process.

To obtain a producer’s license the Pennsylvania Insurance Department requires 24 hours of approved insurance pre-license credits in either Life & Health or Property & Casualty before taking the Pennsylvania exam with Thomson Prometric.
More information about the nomination may be found in Governor Rendell’s Press Release.
