First Katrina Federal Insurance Trial Result

On November 7th, in the first federal trial in Louisiana over Hurricane Katrina damage, the jury sided with the plaintiffs and awarded $350,000. This case basically came down to whether the plaintiffs house was destroyed by the wind from Katrina before being flooded by the storm surge. Initially, State Farm denied the claim when they concluded the storm surge destroyed the house.

This is the first federal trial concluded so far but there are expected to be many to follow. Click here to read more on the story that NBC reported.
